PRIVATE TRAINING
Private Training FAQs
Everything you need to know about starting Solo or Duo Private Pilates with us.
Is Private Pilates right for me?
Private Pilates is ideal if you’d like a more individual approach, whether you’re working with an injury, have a specific goal, want to build confidence before joining classes or simply prefer 1:1 training.
Sessions can be adapted around your movement, experience and what you’d like to work towards.
I’m new to Private Pilates – where do I start?
Our Private Pilates Intro Offer is the best place to start.
It includes two personalised 1:1 sessions: an Initial Assessment & Movement Analysis, followed by a Private Pilates session where we begin building your individual programme.
What happens in the Initial Assessment & Movement Analysis?
We’ll talk through your history, any injuries or relevant medical information and what you’d like to achieve.
Your Movement Analysis is a dynamic assessment using the Pilates equipment, alongside relevant observations of mobility, range, strength, control and movement strategies.
From there, we can decide what to prioritise and how best to structure your sessions.
What equipment will we use?
Private Pilates may include Matwork or Reformer, depending on your instructor and what you’re working towards.
We also offer sessions using the wider Pilates apparatus, including the Cadillac/Tower and Chair, with Liz.
If you’d particularly like to work with a specific piece of equipment, please check what your chosen instructor offers when booking.
Do I need to have done Pilates before?
Not at all. Private Training can be a great introduction to Pilates because we have time to teach the fundamentals at your pace and tailor everything to you.
Can Private Pilates be used for injury rehabilitation?
Yes. Private Training gives us more time to understand your history and tailor your sessions if you’re returning from injury or surgery, or managing an ongoing issue.
Where appropriate, we can also work alongside advice or rehabilitation plans from your physiotherapist or other healthcare professional.
Can Private Training help me progress my Pilates?
Absolutely. Private sessions aren’t only for beginners or rehabilitation.
They can be used to explore Pilates in more depth, work towards particular exercises or movement goals, and add more individual progression alongside your regular classes or other training.
Can two of us train together?
Yes. Duo Private Pilates is for two people who would like to train together.
If you’re both new to Duo Private Pilates, our Duo Pilates Intro Offer includes two sessions: an Initial Assessment & Movement Analysis, followed by a second Duo Pilates session.
Do we need to be at the same level for Duo Pilates?
Not necessarily. Exercises can be adapted for each of you, although Duo sessions work best when your goals and preferred style of training are reasonably compatible.
If you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll help you decide whether Solo or Duo training would suit you better.
Do I have to choose between Private Pilates and classes?
No. Some clients train entirely through Private Pilates, while others combine occasional private sessions with their regular classes.
We can help you find the approach that works best for what you’d like to achieve.
How do I book?
You can purchase one of our Intro Offers or Private Pilates packages, or book an individual appointment through our Private Training diary.
